Prayers for Employment

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you declare your glory and show forth your handiwork in the heavens and in the earth.  You know what I need before I ask, and I know I can trust you as I seek your favor for a new job
  • During this search, I pray that you open my heart, protect my mind, and cover my thoughts so that my spirit will be sensitive to your leading and promptings.
  • I listen for your guidance and instructions as your wisdom guides my footsteps along the right path to find, apply and interview for each position.
  • Help me to present myself with confidence in the skills, talents, and gifts that you have blessed me

  • May this position be in alignment with the schedule I need so that I may remain faithful in all other personal and professional commitments
  • Lord, place me in the best position where I can really feel valued, that has an atmosphere of respect and cooperation, and is in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Thank you that you have good things in store for those who love you, for those who have been called according to your purpose.
  • Lord, you know the things that I enjoy.  I pray that you would open a door to a job which brings mental and financial fulfillment and happiness, while contributing to my success in future endeavors.
  • I pray that I will be able to meet my financial needs with dignity and provide for those who depend upon me for care and support.
  • Help me to overcome any personal or professional challenges that I have and help me develop additional skills and techniques so that I can offer my best self with truth and integrity.
  • Forgive me for any area in which I have fallen short in past jobs, as I commit myself to continuous improvement. 
  • Heal my heart of hurts and disappointments and help me to release any past negative experiences, while forgiving those who hurt me. 
  • May you be glorified in providing for my needs and allowing me to give freely to the needs of others through a job which extends the reach of your work, your kingdom, and your will on this earth today.

Scriptures & Prayers for Greater Skills

Exodus 35:10 - Let every skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded:
  • Lord, help us to operate in the skillful craftsmanship and giftings that you have endowed us with by your Holy Spirit.  

Revelation 3:8 - I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
  • Lord, you know our works.  Thank you for setting an open door before us that no one is able to shut.  At times, we have been undervalued and demoralized, and yet you have exalted our name in their midst because we have kept your word and not denied your name. 

Matthew 7:7 - Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
  • Jesus, according to your instructions, we come before you asking, therefore let it be given unto us, seeking, therefore let us find it, and knocking, therefore let it be opened to us. 

Exodus 31:1-18 - The Lord said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft.
  • Heavenly father, you see each of our unique talents and abilities and you fill us with your Spirit which elevates our minds to greater levels of intelligence and knowledge to work in all types of crafts.

1 Samuel 16:18 - One of the young men answered, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a man of good presence, and the Lord is with him.
  • Lord, help us to have a good reputation for being skillful in our craft, showing that we possess valor and a good presence, we are prudent in speech, and may our employers see that you are with us.

Daniel 1:3-4 - Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, his chief eunuch, to bring some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility, youths without blemish, of good appearance and skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king's palace, and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.
  • Lord, may we find favor whenever we appear before our employers and colleagues, and may we glorify you by demonstrating that we are skillful in all wisdom, while having a teachable spirit.  We are also endowed with knowledge, we understand learning, and we are competent to stand before kings. 

1 Chronicles 15:22 - Chenaniah, leader of the Levites in music, should direct the music, for he understood it.
  • Lord, Let us hone in our craft and understand it with mastery so that we can direct it properly.

Proverbs 16:1-17:28 - The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
  • Lord, we surrender to you the plans of our hearts and pray that your answers will be on our tongues.  We commit our work to you and pray that you will establish our plans.
